Disappointed

Call me naïve if you will, 
but forgive me for expecting 
more from civilization
than a raw struggle for power.

And from preachers of a religion
based on the struggles of the enslaved
      more than a message of 
 intolerance and hate

I'm disappointed with this world
so tell me,
will you disappoint me too?

What do you think?
Will we simply watch another missle launch?
in silence let them cut the last tree down?
look away in shame from yet another slaughter?
Will we allow the oppressors their rule of the world?
